Interpretation Services
Language is one of the main barriers to accessing health-care services, receiving quality health care and achieving desired outcomes.
Interpretation services are in place to ensure that all individuals have equal access to high-quality care regardless of the language they speak or sign. It is important to verify with residents which language they feel most comfortable using when communicating with their health-care team.
Eastern Health offers interpretation services for residents or substitute decision makers who feel more comfortable using a language other than English to speak with their health-care provider.
Health-care providers in long-term care have access to the following services for their residents:
- Over-the-phone Interpretation Services
- Bilingual Services Office
- Interpreters for the Deaf
